Reik Foust - Head Coach

Reik Foust is a 1977 graduate of Freedom High School where he participated on the swim team. He was the District Champion in the 100 yard backstroke, state finalist, and a school record holder. He also swam under Bill Ruth for the Bethlehem Aquatic Club

Reik received his degree attending Bloomsburg State College where he swam and captained the team his senior year. He began his life as a coach in 1984. He was the Head Coach of Freedom High School for 11 years and Lehigh Valley Aquatic Club, where he produced many District and State Champions. Summer coaching started with Palmerton (4 years), Hanover (5 years), Saucon Valley Country Club (6 years), and Northwest (10 years - current)
Since 2003, Reik has been the Head Coach of Liberty High School. He has been voted Coach of the Year three times. Reik has been the head coach at the Bethlehem YMCA, producing several state champions.

Reik's three children Reik, Rian, and Brenna are all products of Northwest, Liberty High School, and the Bethlehem YMCA. All children are coaching/swimming at the collegiate level.

Jeff Matyus - Assistant Coach

Returning for his sixth season with the Bethlehem YMCA Jeff brings over 40 years of competitive swim experience with him, starting as an age group swimmer in the late 1960's and a Parkland High School swimmer in the late 1970's. In 1985 after graduating from college and marrying Jeanette, Jeff began coaching at the Allentown YMCA where he served for 2 years as the Boy's Assistant Coach. In 1989 he moved on to the Dieruff High School Boys Head Swim Coach position which he held for 16 seasons. After a brief retirement Jeff returned to High School and YMCA swimming, joining the Bethlehem YMCA staff in 2005 as Assistant Swim Coach and later as Co-Head Swim Coach. He also currently serves on the Liberty High School swim staff as a Volunteer Assistant Swim Coach. Jeff is married to Jeanette for 26 years and the father of three collegiate daughters, Erin (22), Jocelyn (20), and Devin (17) all alumni of Bethlehem YMCA swim program. He is excited to start the 2009-2010-swim season and looks forward to many great practices and meets for the new year.

Diana Kocon - Assistant Coach

Coach Diana Kocon is returning to the Stars this year, which will be her 13th season with the program. She is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, holding degrees in both Health and Physical Education as well as Early Childhood Education. Coach Diana proudly uses her teaching experience in both of those disciplines while teaching stroke development and competitive swim preparation for swimmers of all ages!

Although Coach Diana achieved honors in basketball, field hockey and track during her school years, she has enjoyed being a swim instructor and coach over the past 24 years. During most of those years she has enjoyed coaching alongside Coach Reik, at the YMCA as well as Northwest Swim Club. She has most recently coached on the Hanover Stingrays swim staff, having been the Head Coach during the 2011 summer season.

Coach Diana and her husband Bernie, have three children, Megan (26), Abby (23) and Evan (21), who all swam for the Stars Swim Team in their youth. They live in Hanover Township with their (human) family as well as their (almost human) dogs, Ruby and Stella.

Cody Fink - Assistant Coach

Cody Fink is in his first year at the Bethlehem YMCA. He is a 2011 graduate of Freedom High School. He is currently a freshman at DeSales University studying Sport Management. Cody has worked at Northwest Swim Club the past 3 years as a lifeguard and swim lesson instructor. He also swam many years at Northwest Swim Club for Reik Foust. Cody worked at the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs this past summer in the Concessions Department as a Stand Cook. Cody looks forward to a great swim season this year.
